A performer is someone who entertains an audience by doing something - like singing, dancing, acting, telling jokes or playing music. A performer has to be able to do something (like singing), but also has to be able to do it in front of other people. A performance can take place in front of a live audience - like in a theatre. It can also be recorded and watched or listened to by an audience later - on TV, at a cinema or on the radio, for example.
