A writer uses words to tell people things. The words are written down so that people can read them anywhere,
any time. A writer:

1. Tells stories that are made up - like JK Rowling did with the Harry Potter stories.
2. Puts down on paper the words that people will say in a play, film or a TV show and tell actors what people watching should see.
3. Puts into words information about things that happen to go in newspapers and magazines, on the web on the radio and on TV.
